Mark Skousen’s Claims So “Wild” They Might Be True?

A reader noted and asked: “I’m on an email list of many gurus these days, but the claims that Mark Skousen makes are incredible — so ‘wild’ that I’m wondering if they might actually be true?! He promises to turn $10,000 into $442,000 in seven months.”
Others have asked about Mark Skousen in the past. There is not enough information publicly available on the web to test his claims.
If you read the promotional page carefully, you will find no explicit promises. The narrative says that you “can,” not that you will make huge profits. This “can” is likely associated with a vanishingly small probability, but the promotional page does not provide enough information to confirm that guess.
There is no easily discovered disclaimer in the ad or on Mark Skousen’s web site. It may be that he does not provide a disclaimer until a prospect submits a subscription form. Such disclaimer very likely does not promise the results that Dr. Skousen describes on the promotional page.
Here is a credibility check. Assume that Dr. Skousen:
- Can reliably generate a profit of 4320% every seven months, as implied by the promotional page; and,
- Had $10,000 of his own money to invest three years ago.
He should now have about $1,700,000,000,000 dollars (and is still selling newsletters). How believable is that?
